Moriyama’s most elusive contenporary book. “[This book] covers a period pivoting around 1970, from 1964-1983…Once I start to concentrate on the period around 1970, I could go on for a long time and once I start to write about it, I get completely out of control. I have a tendency to become sentimental in that way, but that is not the subject of this book. The more the contrasting views of New York, Okinawa, and Tokyo become mixed together, the more they seem to join to bring out the essence of that period. Once that happens, my feelings naturally flow back to that time.” Typical stream of concious narrative showing the influence of Klein, Davidson, Elsken et al.
