Fussa is quite a unique place – being half American Air base and half subsidised public housing. During the 70s a lot of the housing was used for artists studios, rehearsal spaces, project spaces and so on and Sakano lived there for many years, playing in bands and helping friends with various projects, before growing up and joining the straight world. This book was made after he left, and is essentially a portrait of the eccentric groups of people who prefer to live on the edge of mainstream society.
