Brilliant portrait of Brazil shot from 1958-1960 by Miki. He was more known as a photojournalist (the first Japanese photographer to be published in Life), and this was the only book he produced in his lifetime. Has the brilliant architecture of Oscar Niemeyer and Lucio Costa, Beaches, Women, Carnivals, lots of street work. B&W plates are beautifully printed in gravure, also a stunning colour section towards the end. A pretty amazing and underrated book, quite rightly now regarded as a sixties classic.
