Despite Kenmochi’s most famous works being about drugs, his most harrowing is about pregnancy and abortion – which he documents meticulously. I really wouldn’t recommend looking at this unless you are of a hardy disposition, dismembered foetus limbs and abnormalities are not for the faint hearted. But there is a successful live birth at the end to make it a little less grim. Quite an important document of a common, but not commonly spoken of procedure.
