Edition : First / Tokyo / Senken / 1979 / Softcover. / VG 4to, 100pp. Printed wraps as issued. Numerous Black & White plates. Text in Japanese. Some closed tears around the staples which have been repaired with archival tape.
Ultra rare publication compiling the serial fashion eye which appeared in an industrial (!) magazine of all places throughout the seventies. What people who wanted to read about shop fittings and the latest in manufacturing technology thought of it nobody knows, but today it looks pretty incredible. It’s street photography, mainly Harajuku and Shinjuku starting in 1971 and going through to 79 and is pretty extraordinary in terms of editing and (self) styling, and from a time when nobody else was really doing that. The details and silhouettes are phenomenal, as is the slight transition away from formality as the seventies progresses. This is only the second or third copy to surface in the last 8 years.
