Incredible classic street photography. According to Parr: “fascinating documentary photos of the famous park in Greenwich Village which, In the 1960s, was the focal point of musicians and artists in New York. Watanabe captures the beginnings of the ‘beat’ generation, in a way somewhat comparable to Kitajima did in the early 1980s in Manhattan.” It’s hard to believe a world like the one portrayed ever existed.
