Brilliant and obscure work by Klein published by the city of Torino to celebrate the World Cup matches being held there. According to myth they were only distributed in the city, and when Italy was knocked out in the semifinals, getting only third place, they were so upset they stopped handing them out and eventually destroyed many of the remaining books – this is indeed a myth as the book was not published until November of the same year, 4 months after the tournament. Nice story though, anyway- on to the book itself, the focus isn’t really football here- but the people of Torino, young, old, straight, gay and so on, watching, partying and going about their daily business. Possibly one of the most stylish books produced about sport, ever. An absolutely brilliant social documentary.
